Privacy Policy
Effective June 18, 2026 · Applies to Uplifting News for iOS version 2.0 and later
The short version: the app collects nothing: no accounts, no ads, no analytics, no trackers. This website uses Google Analytics for basic, aggregate visitor statistics, described in section 5.
1. Who we are
Uplifting News is an iOS application published by Matt McWilliam ("we", "us"). It shows a curated feed of positive news stories from established publishers. This policy explains what information is, and is not, handled when you use the app or this website.
2. Data the app collects
None. The app does not require or offer user accounts, and it contains no advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs of any kind. We do not collect, store, sell, or share any personal information through the app. The app's App Store privacy label is "Data Not Collected." (The Google Analytics described in section 5 applies only to this website, not the app.)
3. How the app works
- News feed. The app requests a list of headlines from our server (upliftingnewsapp.com). That request contains no personal information and no identifiers; it is the same for every user.
- Articles and images. Story images and articles load from the original publisher's website. When you open an article, your device connects to that publisher's site directly; their privacy policy governs that visit.
- Reading limits. The free tier's daily article count is stored only on your device. It never leaves your phone.
4. Subscriptions
Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through your Apple Account. We never see your name, email address, or payment details. Apple's handling of that data is described in Apple's privacy policy. You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime in Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
5. This website uses Google Analytics
While the app collects nothing, this marketing website (upliftingnewsapp.com) uses Google Analytics, a service provided by Google, to understand aggregate traffic, such as how many people visit and which pages are popular. Google Analytics sets cookies and may process data including your IP address, the pages you view, the site that referred you, and your device and browser type. We use this only in aggregate to improve the site; it is never linked to your use of the app (the app and the website are entirely separate). Google's handling of this data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out across all sites using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
6. Server logs
Like virtually all web servers, ours keeps short-lived technical logs (IP address, request time, requested URL) for security and reliability. These logs are not linked to any identity, are not used for tracking or profiling, and are routinely deleted.
7. Children
The app does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children, because it collects no information at all.
8. Changes to this policy
If we change how data is handled on the app or this website, we will update this page (and, for the app, its App Store privacy label) before the change takes effect.
